The Capalmara (literaly translates as seahorse) is a class of torpedo boat of the Sahren Navy. It features an array of armaments suitable for attacking larger targets and smaller cannons to discourage attack by similarly sized vessels.
Developement
During the Sahren Civil War maritime needs were left inadequate as most of the navy resisted seizure and a general lack of air superiority on any side prevented the use of strike aircraft to fulfill these roles. The need arose for a heavily armed vessel that could be constructed quickly without advanced machinery. As such all of the equipment used in its construction are modified versions of aircraft equipment.
The hull featured 80 milimetres of armour to resist small arms and some light artillery. The boat has two screws powered by two engines which are heavily modified versions of the Alkan Type-2109 LFO turbine, though this conversion had well documented issues with overheating and poor fuel efficiency. 30mm chainguns and four torpedoes make up the main armament, along with a secondary battery of 8 anti tank missiles suitable for shore bombardment or destroying similarly sized vessels. A converted air to ground radar is also mounted on these pointing forward which serves to direct fire and find targets during night action.
