The ADF-type-218 Kalibri II is a Sahren single engine V/STOL interceptor. It was officially developed by the wartime national arms procurement board but the project utilised experts specifically from Klensærmonarcha and Abzalev Design Bereau.

Design and development

In 2205 Sahren Navy purchased and subsequently operated Z-40 Mantises for the Cynaz-class aircraft carriers and later Slovale-class aircraft carriers as strike fighters and light interceptors. By 2217 this design had been 82 years old and only continued usage as programmes from several nations had failed to produce a replacement. The lack of folding wings, limited range, low airspeed, and arms capacity of the Mantis had been a known issue by the Navy for years but funding didn't exist for a replacement program. After the Sahren declaration of war on South-Kafrica in late 2217 military spending soared and suddenly the resources and political capital for a developement programme were made available.

The project (codenamed Hopeless Kite) was envisioned to be mostly domestically developed and then sent to Zokesia or the UIF for final changes. Hopeless Kite was given a very short schedule so the designers copied or modified parts from many other designs to save time. Only the wings, intakes, and landing gear are completely original; it's powerplant was a liscened copy of a foreign model, its cockpit was modified from a Z-40, and its tail was copied over from the Abzalev Akya and remained unchanged for the entire developement cycle.
