Chadastok is a treaty port beloging to Sahr. It is a crucial point for trade in Veiid and boasts a complex multicultural society.
Etymology
Chadastok comes from the Egercian words Chad (what) and Stok (stock) and can be translated as "What's in stock?".
History
Chadastok was a part of Hartfordia under Orion until the treaty of Chadastok in which Sahr purchased the land to build a trading outpost.
Founding
Chadastok was sold to Sahr for a substantially low price in order to improve relations with the new nation and to create a free trade zone in Veiid. Significant investments from Sahrland attracted investors and businesses across kerbin. The city quickly became known for it's distinct lack of a unified culture or language.
Sahren Civil War
Chadastok declared neutrality in the Sahren Civil War and was taken under the protection of the Imperial union's navy for the duration. Chadastok was the only land left untouched by the Sahren Civil War. The Chadastok People's militia was mobilized and began drilling as a precaution but was disbanded in 2146 to allow the Sahren Republicans to take the land, as they were now internationally recognized as the legitimate government of Sahrland.
The eternal party
Post Sahren Civil War Chadastok became once more a hub of trade entering the continent of veiid. The city entered a period of peace and prosperity, and was one of the few to do so even during the Sahren hysteria of 2160. The population of Chadastok more than doubled from 2144 to 2200 in spite of the rampant mob crime, land crisis, and ultra-capitalism. Chadastok has seen use as a backdoor to get around trade barriers by countries in or near Veiid.
Geography
The city sits on a large bay.
Climate
Chadastok's location relatively right between the equator and the south pole give it a distinct four seasons. The city has a high humidity level all year as it is coastal.
