The W-2022 is a Zokesian narrow-body airliner produced by Cyten-Ward Industries at its Ezekialgrad factory in Zokesia. Developed to supplement the W-1011 on short and thin routes, the twinjet retained the W-2000 Triumph fuselage width and six abreast seating but with two underwing turbofans instead of three high bypass fans in a trijet configuration. Envisioned in 2154, the initial W-2022-100 made its first flight in April 2160 and entered service in February 2161 with Bundesluft Zokesia. The lengthened W-2022-200 entered service in April 2164, and evolved through four generations, offering several variants for 210-288 Passengers.
Variants
ZP-20 Aquitane: Designed as a long range ASW patrol aircraft, the ZP-20 became the Zokesian Navy's newest dedicated land-based ASW aircraft, and featured extensive electronic suite, AEW and sonar capability, as well as capacity for six Mk-64 Airdropped torpedoes and four AGM-84 Harpoons underwing. The type is based off the stretched W-2022-200, and was introduced in 2170.
KZ-20 Moonbow: The KZ-20 was built following the urgent need for refueling aircraft following the failure of the T-133 Super Redhead as a replacement of the KZ-10A Paladin. Designed in 2183, using a lengthened W-2022-200, the KZ-20 Moonbow was put into service with the Zokesian Royal Air Force from 2184 onward, and serves as the primary tanker for the Air Force. The KZ-20 also received an AWACS Variant, designated KZ-20J.
KZ-60 Moho: The KZ-60 is an airborne command post and communications relay based on the W-2022-300. This platform, now modified to the KZ-60B standard, conveys instructions from the Confederate Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines, a mission known as TACAMO ("Take Charge And Move Out").
W-2022-300: A further stretched version of the W-2022 was built for large capacity, long haul flights internationally, while retaining the same wing and engine layout with 50% increased fuel capacity.
W-2022K: Cargo variant of the W-2022.
A-282-9 Cloudrunner: Arcovdonia ordered 30 custom W-2022-300 Comforjets for Arcovair use. The airframes feature heavily modified passenger cabins and fowler flap wings to increase efficiency.
Incidents
Blowout Incident of HKB441
On January 7th, 2163, Hook Brzinair Flight HKB-441 between Zerban and Fedithe suffered a rapid decompression after a service panel blew out on the aft end of the aircraft, a CWI W-2022-100 Comforjet. The panel blowout caused internal damage, rapidly depressurizing the aircraft at altitude, forcing the aircraft to lower altitude and place a mayday call, delaying multiple flights into Laythi Honor International as the aircraft was placed on priority for landing. Two passengers died from High-altitude pulmonary edema after their oxygen masks failed due to improper servicing. Hook Brznair, wishing to avoid a lawsuit, settled out of court with the next of kin. The panel blowout was investigated internally by the company and found to be the result of improper training practices by ground crews servicing the carrier in Zerban. The ground crew servicing the aircraft had improperly affixed speedtape to the panel. Furthermore, the on-board emergency air system had been erroneously signed off as properly serviced by both the ground crew and the crew due to a miscommunication. Those responsible however were not found fully liable and were instead ordered into retraining. Multiple policies were taken by the company to avoid a future incident.
RCA Flight 04
On 21st of February 2198 W-2022 Air frame number 04 was scheduled for routine engine maintenance when at 6pm within the hanger the aircraft left engine caught fire engulfing the 3 maintenance personal in flames and partially destroying the hanger which it was stationed in. To public knowledge the air-frame was repaired however the air-frame was beyond recovery leading to a cover up from the the CAG in order to prevent fear of the new airline.
