The Siege of Kobyeda (Dorislavian: Кобедаська облога, romanized: Kobyedas'ka obloga) was a devastating siege that lasted from the early stages of the Zimori War of Independence to the end of the conflict in 2172. Lasting more than two years, it is believed that more than 105,785 people on the Zimori side, approximately 28% of its 377,807 inhabitants, were killed. The siege was a humiliating defeat for the Dorislavians despite their equipment and air superiority as they were forced to withdraw and leave the newly reformed nation alone on the condition that no hostilities occur for ten years and Dorislav assists in rebuilding the nation and its capital, 87% of which was destroyed.
Timeline
2170
- October 23 - Dorislavian artillery open fire on Kobyeda, followed by airstrikes. Approximately 1,744 people are killed by the opening artillery and aerial bombardment. This date is generally accepted as the start of the siege.
- October 24-28 - For the next four days, Kobyeda is shelled dozens of times day and night. It is claimed that more than 40% of the thousands of shells fired during this time period landed on terrain outside of city limits or hit the waters east of the Kobyeda Cliff.
- October 29 - Dorislavian Navy frigate tbd fires on Kobyeda for one hour. Many of the shells hit the cliffside or fail to hit a building as it had to be positioned further away than normal to account for the elevation. Less than 28 are killed by the shelling. One Dorislavian tank was reportedly hit in the barrel and had to be taken back to base for repairs.
- October 30 - Five Dorislavian tanks attempt to enter the city; however, all of them are either destroyed or disabled by RPG or 90 mm fire. Allegedly, someone said "Wecome to hell" to tank's crews on the radio before opening fire. It is unknown who said that, and how they were able to access their radio channel and broadcast the phrase on radio.
