RAV-1 "Glitchin' Goblins"
Template:Organization (military)RAV-1 was formed in the early 2070s. Uröjf, then called "Red Tide" was busy in combat with the encroaching tribes of the wastes, and expansion. An equal amount of forces, along with similar technology resulted in a stale, stagnant war. A combination of radar tracking guns, and cloth and wood biplanes were the mainstay. RAV-1 was formed when Red Tide bomber crews were being slaughtered at the hands of radar tracking AA batteries. This group of volunteers, originally lead by sárppuralós rýks, performed "Wild Weasel" missions against these AA batteries. Having to share airplanes with the first attack wing, which whittled down to seven aircraft, the two squadrons eventually merged, to form a multirole squadron, acquiring it's name from a general, commenting "they are like a bunch of little goblins on those sites.". The most notable mission was when four aircraft took off out of the northwest portion of now Uröjf, flying a standard suppression mission against enemy AA. After encountering heavy fire in the form of small arms, flak, and AA, two aircraft were downed. One of which caught on fire, and caused a small brush fire when it impacted, and the other flown by sárppuralós rýks was hit, causing the ordinance to explode, completely destroying the aircraft. The final aircraft continued on, with light damage to the tail, and a portion of a wingtip missing. This aircraft managed to destroy most of the defenses around one tribes primary airfield, allowing for a strategic victory brought upon by precision and dive bombing. In the later 2080's, the cloth and wood aircraft were replaced by metal and jet aircraft, some reverse engineered from captured enemy aircraft, others are original designs.
