The Maritime Party is a political party in Fortis. It represents the interests of islanders living on West Hook Island.
Ideology
Maritime is an overall centrist party, but has both centre-left and centre-right adherents. As the stated goals of the party in principal are to ensure the well-being and interests of the Hook Islanders, Maritime delegates tends to abstain from voting contentious, far-reaching issues unless they will directly impact West Hook Island. Much of the party membership is ethnically Ikonian, and a large lobby in the party exists to maintain friendly relations with the Ikonic Federation. The party has sometimes been at odds internally, as some members have desired a return to Ikonic Rule, and others have prefered Fortisian. No formal calls to hold a vote of secession have ever been placed, though the legal framework to do so does exist within Fortis.
