The AV-Type-46 Dætach is an armoured personelle carrier originating from Sahrland designed during the Sahren Civil War.
Development
Data from the War of the Egercias and the Burr War showed potential use of armoured vehicles to support the dragoons. These were thought of as armoured capals, requiring at least the speed of a capal while being resistant to small arms and able to pull similar loads. Faced with other priorities, the royal armed forced did not invest into the project until the beginning of the Sahren Civil War, during which the Sahren Republican Guard and KNST became interested in the concept.
CFIM was selected to develope the new vehicle as they were based in southern Egercia which was then within Phoenia, and thus protected from attacks or espionage. Although it was derived from light truck designs, the final product was vastly different in almost every way.
Description
Power was provided by a twin LFO electric turbine setup, driving four small wheels.
The cabin could only be accessed by two doors, and visibility was only available from the driver's front window or the turret. The interior featured seats for five, one driver, three passengers, and the gunner's position. Early versions used canvas in the latter half of this cabin due to resource shortages, however this was swapped for aluminium plating by the 42nd model.
The armour design sought to protect primarily the engine and crew. Armour was concentrated stronger on the sides as attacks were well known to come from this angle more than the front, especially in urban environments. In order to place spaced checkerboard ERA over the cabin sides, one of the frontal panels was made to articulate as the door was opened.
Service history
The first Dætachs were available for deployment for the 3rd siege of Slovale and were used in a variety of roles. The most common was as an armoured personelle carrier leading a reconnaisance unit, greatly complementing the dragoons. A few were also converted into command varients.
