A commune (Kommyna) is a level of administrative division in Sahrland. Sahren communes are essentially equivilent to municipal or district level councils with the exception that they almost exclusively are based around some form of locally owned agriculture.

Communes may vary in area and population, from sprawling low density cities like Sys with thousands of inhabitants to small communities like Hedaile with only a few hundred.

Etymology

The word "Kommyna" has a political connotation, directly attributed to the left wing of the Republican Coalition, which sought to win over the support of peasants through increasing relative standard of living. The word itself can be traced to the Chevspendic word "Kamuna", which itself is a loan word from Belaesorii.

The use of the word is not without controversy, causing over a dozen diplomatic incidences through miscommunication. Notable examples include the endorsement of Frakchiya's presidency by Xourao as an "Emerging Stihlovist nation", and the condemnation by Zokesian president Winslow Harding.
