War plan Dyb, otherwise known as war plan black, was one of the colour coded war plans created immediatly following the War of the Egercias in 2132. It detailed likely conflicts with Phoenia. These war plans were used to formulate strategy and to calcualte the logistical requirements needed to fight a war with a greater power.
The plan was devised by chief of army Kake Kerch and held in reserve, used as a routine hypothetical exercise which never recieved approval by the grand prince or his cabinet. It was considered outdated by 2141 but kept in reserve and eventually declassified in 2182.
Outline
The plan first outlined the numbers and capabilities of the Phoenian Federal armed forces and was able to accurately estimate total force numbers and doctrine. It then outlined various invasion plans to take the rest of the Egercia region and grind the enemy down in a war of attrition, achieving favourable peace terms by virtue of the casualty ratio and economic impact.
One key element was a massed short range ballistic missile strike targetting the Phoenian fleet, transportation networks, equipment depots, and airfields, which was thought to delay mobilisation long enough for a massed cavalry tank assault toward the city of Ria, which would in turn cut off most of the Phoenian agricultural system. Unlike later operations like Operation Kerosene, air-land coordination was not expected due to the immense disparity in airframe count. Instead a policy of aerial denial was to be used in combination with mobile anti-air emplacements.
Dragging out the war beyond 2 and a half years was expected to have disasterous consequences as Sahrland lacked the sufficient industry and fuel reserves to sustain itself while blockaded for any extended period of time. Phoenia's lack of agricultural products from Egercia was expected to be less disasterous as these could be imported from Grestin, Zokesia, or elsewhere, though this importing was expected to damage the Phoenian economy to a small degree.
Phoenian plans for war with Sahrland
There were no formal plans for war with Sahr, however limited schemes were devised in planning exercises. Many were under the assumption of the neccesity to secure Sahrland quickly before foreign powers intervened, which was expected due to their international reputation. Thus two doctrines of thought dominated this ; A quick war strategy and a long war strategy.
Long war strategy
The Phoenian armed forced believed if a war were to occur the northern border would quickly be overwhelmed, and therefor opted to bombard Sahren forces with superior naval and air power while airborne troops secured the Balaoigir mountains, along with an armoured offensive toward theses positions. The navy would attempt to gain superiority in the sea of Kolus after which landings could be conducted along the coast of Heidale to support these forces advancing north.
After these early actions it was expected Phoenia could wear down Sahren defences in the long term with its superior industrial capabilities and manpower reserves.
Quick war strategy
Sahren reputation abroad was thought to bring in a two front war, which would neccesitate the closing of one front to avoid being overwhelmed. Similar actions to the long war strategy would be used in Egercia, but a flanking maneuver into neutral territory to strike at the Sahren heartland was also considered, which offered the possibility to end the war swiftly while risking conflict with local tribes.
