After receiving no answer from Kobyeda, Dorislavian forces stationed near the border and in Goyiryii were given the order to "cross the border and retake all land occupied by separatists at all costs". Dorislavian tanks breached the border. In the ensuing chaos, Zimori forces, unprepared for an onslaught of Dorislavian armor, were forced to fall back when they realized there was no way they could hold the line for a day or two. For the next two days, it seemed like they would make it to Kobyeda and force them to capitulate in no time. T-53s also took them by surprise: they were immune to the 90 mm gun used by the LT-68 in the front, though a penetrating hit was still possible in the sides or rear at point-blank range. The Zimori War of Independence was a conflict fought between Dorislav and the breakaway state of Zimor. Lasting from 2169 to 2172, the conflict saw both sides suffer heavy losses, much of which was attributed to either famine or military personnel falling off the cliff Kobyeda - which was the center of a two-year-long siege - was located in. The war ended when Dorislavian forces withdrew from Kobyeda after suffering heavy losses and failing to retake the city from the Zimoris. Dorislav later signed an agreement with the newly reformed nation promising to avoid any hostilities with the nation for five years and assisting in repairing the damage done to Kobyeda after years of airstrikes and artillery bombardment.
Timeline
Lore is not final.
Prelude
March 6-7: Zimor secedes
On March 6, 2169, [tbd] announced that he would not accept the dissolution of the Zimori Autonomous Republic and integration into the Kobyeda province and instead choose to secede from Dorislav, even if it meant war. A day later on the 7th, an overwhelming majority of the [tbd] voted to leave the Dorislav People's Republic and re-establish Zimor as a nation bordering the Central Sea at a fraction of its original size, with Kobyeda as its capital and the cities of Nodyi and [unnamed city north of Kobyeda] under its banner as well.
March 8: Dorislav issues ultimatum
On March 8, Premier [tbd, name to be changed] issued an ultimatum to the government of the newly reestablished nation, demanding that Zimor give up all of its territory and "get used to not being an autonomous republic" within 24 hours. No reply from the government was received. At the same time, dozens of personnel and equipment were deployed to the border or moved to the neighboring city of Goyiryii on the western side of Kobyeda Province. In Kyeshdet, Dorislavian Air Force squadrons stationed there were put on high alert and ordered to prepare for a possible conflict within 24 hours. Flights were canceled, stranding thousands of passengers in the process. Those bound for Kyeshdet were redirected to Zyey.

March 9: Dorislav invades
These tanks outpaced the slow and unreliable LT-68. Once a breakthrough was achieved, LT-37s were used to flank and harass Zimori positions and provide screening for T-53s while also doing reconnaissance work.
It was estimated that Zimor would fall within two weeks, given the fact that they had a smaller force compared to Dorislav's.
March 10
The war was seemingly going well for the Dorislavians, despite the hilly terrain. Dorislavian Air Force aircraft provided air support for troops on the ground, dropping bombs on Zimori positions with little resistance apart from occasional Z-80L flights out of Kobyeda. Zimori forces were forced to retreat eastward toward Nodyi, Kobyeda and [unnamed] to minimize losses, while also luring them into places where resistance would be much more fierce and Dorislavian forces would suffer heavy losses. To Dorislavian military officials, they thought that Zimor was inching closer to defeat.

Final year of conflict (2172)
By 2172, it was estimated that 60-75% of Kobyeda was destroyed. Neither side could make any significant progress, as any attempt at advancing was met with heavy losses. Even when a unit managed to enter the city, they were met with heavy losses and rarely got out with a single tank, let alone a man.
