The Tiberius Class is a class of Destroyer in service with the Carsodonian and Vocavian navies. It was Vocavium's response to Carsodonia after they commissioned a new class of escort destroyer that could accompany and protect carriers on patrol. The order was transferred to VSD and subsequently handled by their subsidiary, Abyssal Shipyard Exports, who manufactured and outfitted the hulls. The first ship of her class in service with the Vocavian Navy, the VN Lancer was commissioned and launched in late 2086. Her performance exceeded expectations, achieving a much higher speed than anticipated with 2 engines, reaching 85 knots. Her crew predicted that with the usual 4 engine configuration she may be capable of reaching 100 knots. Her role as an escort destroyer limits her strategic and tactical flexibility, though she is outfitted with cruise missiles to afford some degree of supportive firepower.
Design
Design work on the Tiberius began in 2086 after an order was placed by Carsodonia and the contract was given to Abyssal Shipyard Exports. It soon became apparent that the design would also suit the needs of the Vocavian Navy, which placed an order for a number of the vessels as well.
The Tiberius is specifically intended for long duration escort missions of carriers and other surface vessels that require protection from aircraft and smaller warships. Her primary armament of 2 76mm auto-loading guns is very effective against unarmoured targets and smaller warships. Whilst their performance against armoured targets is inadequate, the Tiberius should is not designed to such targets. Instead, an anti-air armament of 2 CIWS and 1 laser provide excellent protection from aerial attacks. In addition, 8 torpedoes give the Tiberius sufficient anti-submarine defence. The stern of the ship has room to accommodate helicopters or small aircraft for reconnaissance or transferring supplies and crew.

The first ship of the class in service with the Vocavian Navy, the VN Lancer, was launched in late 2086 and began sea trials shortly after, impressing her contractors and builders with her first rate performance.
