The Sarconian Air Force (SAF) is the air service branch of the Sarconian military. The Sarconian Air Force officially traces its roots back to 2066. It has been absorbed into the armed forces of Doren on two occasions since its formation.

History

The Sarconian Air Force was first formed in 1961, in a chain of events sparked by the donation of seven YaV-5 Spooky fighter aircraft from Arcadia to Sarconia. A coinciding report by Special Advisor Gerchai Kerman recommended that Sarconia should mirror many of its ‘peers’ and create an independent branch for aerial warfare, and was boosted in profile significantly by the arrival of the modern aircraft. On December 14th, 1961, this was approved, and the scant aviation assets of the Sarconian Army - a handful of biplanes and transport aircraft - were redistributed alongside the gifted jets under the newly formed Sarconian Air Force.

While under Arcadian oversight, the branch never grew beyond its limited scope at its formation. Sarconian crews struggled to find parts to maintain their fighters, and by 1984 only three were still flying. During the Great Decline, all activities by the Sarconian Air Force ceased as the government effectively fell apart. Military aviation did not return to Sarconia for almost a century.
