The Cursed Mechanicum, also known as C-Mech and later the Corporate Dominion of the Cursed Mechnicum, was a self-governing arms and defense corporation active from 2049 to 2102. Founded in Elysium, C-Mech quickly rose to become a dominant fixture of the Elysian military industrial complex in the early stages of its existence. During and after the Theocracy's turbulent transition into The Elysium Conclave, the corporation grew further and gained significant autonomy, culminating in it's leadership electing to break away and settle the then ungoverned land of Irsmuncast. From this position it would maintain strong ties and contracts with Elysium, Aquaria and briefly Bastia before its dissolution after the turn of the century.

History

Early Years

Establishment of the Corporate Dominion

With Elysium in a state of war with Krome and following shifts in opinion of the directors of the company, in 2074 protocols were enacted in order to transition the already largely independent sub-state of C-Mech into it's own fully self-governing nation. Much of the corporation's workforce and holdings were relocated to Veiid in the lands of Irsmuncast, at the time outside the jurisdiction of any nation on Kerbin. The split was entirely amicable, and assets of the corporation such as its orbital shipyard and Aquarian naval base were retained. Contracts and deals signed previously continued uninterrupted. In its first statement to the international community as a fellow nation, the company declared itself the Corporate Dominion of the Cursed Mechanicum, thanked the Elysium Conclave, formally applied for MNA membership, and stated their intent to be a nation of peace and prosperity.[1] The financial output of the corporation, now measured against countries rather than companies, was one of the smallest on Kerbin for its area. A few years after it's establishment the GDP of the CDC was just 30% of the average of its peers, but this deficit was later halved with further internal development coupled with weathering the global recession of the time unusually well.

International Relations and Contracts

Holding strong economic ties with the nations of Elysium, Aquaria and Bastia before its transition into a nation state, the CDC applied for membership in the MNA almost immediately following and was unanimously accepted into the Coalition within months.[2] In 2075, it contributed 60 fighter aircraft to the defense of Elysium during the Second Kroman Crusade, the most assistance offered by any MCRN nation.[3]
