The SN Khosa (No.23) is a Khosa class battleship built and operated by the Sahren Navy. It is the flagship of the Aontan fleet and was the first battleship ever produced by Sahrland. It is the oldest ship in the Sahren navy and one of the oldest still active vessels in the entire world.
Construction and Commission
SN Khosa was the first of two Khosa class battleships commissioned in 2133. The vessel was built in the Klensagradina Stahlduga. Sahrland lacked any naval infrastructure or tradition so many costly mistakes were made. Construction took place during the pre-junta political instability which limited the Naval armament programme to only two battleships until the 40s.
Operational history
Zokesian Civil war
The Stahlsieg defection in the Burr war and subsequent occupation of Schrschnell posed for once a legitimate threat to the eastern kolusian political landscape, causing a response from Sahrland, Nuvastia, and Phoenia. The SN Khosa performed escort duties for the Sahren-Nuvastian combined expeditionary forces, along with sister ship SN Indestructible. By the time the expeditionary forces arrived the Stahlsieg was mostly beaten back by the Zokesian armed forces. The Nuvan-Sahren force only participated in suppression of partisans and the occupation of the territory. The Sahren battleships did not fire a single shot but their potential for artillery support positively effected morale of the combined forces.
War of the Aontan straits
A lack of naval theory and diplomatic isolation left Sahrland at a disadvantage against Ophir despite of their allies in the interior of kafrica. The resulting air battle over Klensagrad caused the sinking of the SN Indestructible and heavy damage of SN Khosa. For the rest of the Junta period SN Khosa was under repair at the Klensagradina Stahlduga
Sahren civil war
The Sahren Navy was unable to mutiny due to Phoenian and Zokesian Naval power projection. The vessel came under attack by the Labour party along with her screen SN Blokha when the civil war began. The two ships planned to sail to Khosa and secure the harbour to wait out the war but Blokha had to turn back after engine failure slowed its speed. SN Khosa and her screen sailed for Phoenian territorial waters and were interned and given to the Republicans post war. This action made it seen in the Phoenian and Republican public that the navy defected rather than picking a side, causing the Navy to be absorbed into the new state rather than a republican Navy be created.
2199 refit
SN Khosa sailed into the Slovale harbour as part of naval rearmament plan Æ. The harbour was modified with large tarps on scaffolding to conceal the ship. Attempts to leak information have been heavily penalized. The ship currently sits there and is projected to stay for two or more years before reconstruction is finalized.
