Bolkar Arsenal is a Dorislavian firearms and artillery manufacturer founded in 1704 in Bolkar, then part of Aecirov. Initially a small workshop which employed a limited number of gunsmiths and blacksmiths and could only output 750 guns annually, it was later significantly expanded during the Industrial Revolution. By the late 1800s, it was the largest firearms manufacturer in Aecirov, producing tens of thousands of guns every year.

As of 2215, it is one of the largest defense firms in Dorislav, producing firearms for the three main branches of the Dorislavian Armed Forces, who are its main customers.

History

Beginnings (1704-1735

Industrial era (1830-1915)

Late Aecirov era (1925-1938)

Pandorican era (1950-1984)

During the Pandorican era, it continued to produce mainly firearms for Pandorica's military. However, with the rise of rocket-powered weapons, it struggled to meet demand for such weapons, a field which the plant had no involvement in throughout its existence.

The Great Decline (1985-2020)

The Great Decline was marked by political and economic crises, the fall of entire superstates, severe climate change, and violence. With the onset of the Decline, production numbers dropped alongside revenue. Weapons quality is also known to have dropped.

Bresnt-Bolkar rifle deal scandal

In the 2000s, it was the center of a controversy[1] when Bresnt, then a city state during the warlord era in Dorislav, ordered 100 Type 05 rifles from Bolkar Arsenal, assured that they were of high quality. Some of the rifles turned out to be defective, suffering from either squib loads or catastrophic explosions during firing, which seriously injured the shooters who experienced the latter. In response, Bolkar's defense ministry sent a now-infamous letter to the industrial town's arms plant, in which they complained about the quality of the Type 05s they received.

Bresnt demanded one of the following: 1, they refund Bresnt in exchange for returning the rifles, or 2, provide replacements in exchange for the defective rifles. Furthermore, they threatened to not buy any more rifles from Bolkar Arsenal and instead pour more resources into their local arms industry. Due to poor recordkeeping and high illiteracy during the Great Decline, not much is known about this controversy; both factors, alongside censorship, meant very few texts from this region survive to this day.

Notable firearms

Bolkar Arsenal is known for producing various types of firearms ranging from rifles to machine guns. Many of them became the mainstays of the Aecirovian Army and later the Pandorican Army, and Dorislavian warlords in various roles.
