The Type 11 Invicta, commonly known as either the F-11 or ASF-11, is a Twin-Engine Air Superiority Fighter developed by LAC in the mid-late 2170s in order to fill a hole in the Royal Zalkentian Air Corps, which lacked a competitive air superiority aircraft at the time.

Development

The development of the Type 11 was spurred by the knowledge that the aircraft fielded by the RZAC were not up to par with contemporary designs fielded by nations like Crytil, which spurred the development of a new aircraft. Designated internally at LAC as ASF: Project-11, the Type 11 was in its infancy. This aircraft went through a couple design changes with regards to its airframe and internal weapons bays, with original design documents having a rounded underside to the aircraft. The aircraft with rounded undersides were dubbed the "XF-11 Series" of two prototypes. Eventually, after a couple design changes it ended up with the current missile load and flattened underside that is a staple of the Type 11 airframe, Blocks 1 and later.

This aircraft was also one of the main causes that TAAE cited during the Tenrai Advanced Aeronautics - Lesk Aircraft Corporation feud and subsequent split in 2176.

Carrier-Borne Variants

The Type 11 was also converted for use on aircraft carriers in the year 2199, at the request of the Naval Ordinance Bureau. Dubbed internally as the ASF: Project-11N, this was created as a stopgap measure to fill the ranks of the Fleet Air Force until the Tenrai SF-1 reached true mass production and operational capacity. The prototype was dubbed the "XNF-11", and included reinforced landing gear and corrosion resistant coating.

In order to prevent confusion with the RZAC, the FAF variants were named the F-11N Invicta. These airframes also adopted a dark blue paint scheme, with accents reflecting the colors of the flag found on the control surfaces.
