Ataqi-Ouli (also spelled Atakti-ouli or Ataki Ouli) was a proto-chevspendic Chiefton who according to popular mythology united the tribes into the Chevspendic Horde. Due to this he is celebrated in Sahrland and is often used in personifying of the Chevspendics.

Life

What we know about Ataqi-Ouli primarily comes from written versions of oral history made by Sahren scholars. Thus the earliest record about him is the Otbasi Chronicle written in 2109, however this source was primarily concerned with the individual families and only made a passing mention of Ataqi-Ouli for background context. According to this source he was a warrior of great prowess who rose to power of Otbasi Siyah-Kon (Black capal) tribe, and went on to reform the Chevspendi into a tribal oligarchy.

The Chevspendic Primary Oral Chronicle goes into more detail about him, and instead describes him as an individual of immense wit and strategy. It states in 1809 he became cheiftan of the Siyah-Kon, and then spent the rest of his rule began negotiating agreements of mutual benefit with the other tribes while launching increasingly bold raids settled civilizations.

Legacy

Main article: History of the Chevspendi Many historians doubt the possibility of the unification of these proto-chevspendic tribes if Ataqi-Ouli was not successful. Even within the Chevspendic oligarchy feuds and fights between the tribes were common. Opponents of the great man theory propose unified way of life and language were more influential in the unification of the tribes. Either theory has equal validity as there is little evidence left from this time period to support either point.

Otbasi Ataqi-Ouli continued to be an influential tribe until 2094 when it was weakened by battle with the triumverate and forced to join Otbasi Lavro which was one of their vassals at the time. The modern day House of Lavro therefor claims to be the successors of Ataqi-Ouli himself.
