The origins of the program trace back to 2173, when the government realized that the previous stealth aircraft fielded during this era was inadequate for the role of a stealth air superiority fighter due to its poor handling characteristics. Currently, the SF-1 has been deployed in both the Royal Zalkentian Air Corps (RZAC) and the Royal Zalkentian Fleet Air Force.
