Design
The Swordsman-Class Missile Battleship is similar in design to the Hartfordia II-Class Heavy Cruiser, with the bow fitting the Mark IV Magnetic Accelerator Cannon as the primary kinetic weapon as a backup to the ships primary weapons, its missiles.
Internal Structure
As a result of its shared development with the Hartfordia II-Class, both ships share a very similar internal structure, with fuel tanks and other systems acting as "Belt" armor behind the external ablative armor similar to Blue-Water battleships
Development
Originally based off of the Hartfordia II-Class Heavy Cruiser, both the Swordsman and Hartfordia II were designed around the same time by Odyssey Aerospace. Originally, both ships started under the Next Generation Battle Line Ship (NGBLS) Program as the same vessel.
Both started under the same design study project, looking to arm the Atreus Aerospace Command with a Battlecruiser-sized capital ship to accompany the Trinity and Retribution-Class Carriers while being able to engage hostile Second and Third Echelon assets, such as the Sirius-Class and Tekkian Capital ships without risking carrier aircraft if the ship was damaged or destroyed.
However, due to different needs from the AASC, Odyssey's design was divided into two separate classes. With the Hartfordia II emerging as a Heavy Cruiser, and the Swordsman as the AASC's first class of Missile Battleship.
Service History
Despite its large, sluggish hull during maneuvers, the Swordsman-Class was instantly loved by her crews, with its expansive Command and Control (C2) suites, Missile banks, and overall quality of life features. Being stationed on board of a Swordsman hull is considered a great honor in the AASC's ranks, and is one of the most coveted assignments personnel can be assigned to.
