Rison-Class Guided Missile Heavy Cruiser

The Rison-Class Guided Missile Heavy Cruiser is a class of Heavy Cruiser designed by the Principality of Belka and Confederacy of Atreus. As well as operated by the Pan-Veiidic Commonwealth.

Design and Development

Overview

Originally a set of four, unfinished Hartfordia-Class Heavy Cruisers built by the Belkan Navy following their fleet being sold to the Stahlsieg, they were never finished due to the fall of the Belkan Government and the beginning of the Belkan Civil War. Finally finished over 50 years later, the Rison-Class features modernized radar, fire control systems (FCS), and vertical launch systems (VLS) in addition to its nine 8-inch/55 caliber Mark 16 triple gun turrets.

Development

Despite being untouched Heavy Cruiser hulls from the early 22nd century, the Rison-Class Heavy Cruiser was finished and modified to combat small surface combatants such as the Orion-Class, Acheron-Class, as well as combat larger surface combatants such as the Klaes Haydn-Class Cruiser and De Ward-Class Destroyer using accurate, fast-firing Naval Artillery and Anti-Ship missiles such as the 3M54T Kalibr and BGM-109 Tomahawk Land Attack Missile Block IVa. The Rison-Class also carries ample Anti-Aircraft, and Anti-Missile defenses using the RIM-162 Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile and RIM-66D.

Refits

Despite the Rison-Class' introduction in the 2190's, the Atreian Navy has already begun refit programs to modernize the outdated Heavy Cruisers. This includes a artillery refit to CAG-04 involving the replacement of her 8-inch guns, as well as her stern 5-inch with the 6-inch/62 caliber Mark 51 Advanced Gun Systemto combat the rising popularity in lightly armored, long-ranged vessels focused on missile combat.
