Milo Mazdok is an Ikonic politician, media personality, and businessman who is the 23rd and current Apex of the Ikonic Federation. He is the first Apex to be unaffiliated with any political party or monastery, instead serving as an entirely independent political entity.

Early Life

Milo Anaximander Mazdok was born on October 4th, 2169, at Elpizo Hospital in Polecth, Arcaros, the third child of Zephon Mazdok, an Arcarosian businessman, and Selvene Mazdok, an actress from Valora. Growing up as the third and least favoured child, Mazdok learned to use any duplicitous tactics necessary to get his share. He quickly demonstrated a prodigious aptitude for lying, cheating, stealing, persuading, deceiving, sneaking and volleyball. By his 18th birthday, Mazdok had accrued significant wealth from his numerous enterprises, be they fraudulent or genuine, and had garnered a cult following across the media for his outrageous antics and youthful talent. His shrewd genius, rapacious hunger for business, and distinctive broad smile swiftly earned him the nickname "The Shark of Arcaros".

Political Career

Mazdok's foray into politics was incepted in May 13th 2195 during a televised opening ceremony of a Mazko store, a supermarket chain recently purchased by Mazdok. During the ceremony, an anonymous member of the attending crowd asked if Mazdok had ever considered a career in politics. In response, Mazdok appeared to be struck by a moment of shock and inspiration, and froze for the remainder of the ceremony whilst his eyes visibly bulged with imagined riches. He then disappeared from all media and became uncontactable for 2 months. On August 7th, Mazdok made his reappearance, crashing a National Party function in Nexus by arriving in a golden limousine, himself bedecked in a similarly auriferous ensemble. He then displaced the vaunted singer Kraylo Lucila, who had been performing on stage, and proceeded to announce that he would be running for the position of bearer of Arcaros. Despite his complete lack of political experience, Mazdok's enormous public popularity and golden charisma succeeded in elevating him to the position of bearer elect, and on July 21st, 2196 he officially replaced the serving bearer, Aleca Zakarton, ending her term of 11 years.

Mazdok served as bearer of Arcaros for 3 years before being elected by the population of Nexus as Apex in the 23rd General Election. Due to his relative lack of political experience and short term on the Greater Council, many suspect that it was Mazdok's extensive network of business contacts and financial allies in Nexus that made him a favorite choice for the population of the nation's capital. Mazdok is the first Apex in Ikonic history to serve as Apex as an independent political entity, without representing a party or monastery. This has led to a number of critics refusing to acknowledge Mazdok's Apexcellency. Valora in particular has become estranged from national politics and the former Apex, Flammion d'Ambray, has become one of Mazdok's most outspoken opponents.

It remains to be seen how the state of Valora will continue to tolerate the dishonorable perfidy of Mazdok the pretender.

Apexcellency

Mazdok was initiated as Apex of the Ikonic Federation on June 4th, 2199. Despite predictions of a lavish and flippant leadership, harkening back to Richon Stavius, Mazdok has ratified a record number of policies in the first few months of his term. Many financial restrictions have been lifted, and Mazdok has steered the greater council toward an attitude of overt capitalism. Whilst many detractors claim that this is merely a means for Mazdok to increase his own wealth, others predict that this capitalist angle is a component of a more complex plan, and that Mazdok is preparing something on a grand scale. Most noteworthy amongst the financial reforms are the quiet reallocation of funds towards military research avenues, and a tripling of the defense budget.

Controversies

Mazdok has been the subject of several political controversies, including accusations of theft, manslaughter, fraud, and espionage, as well as numerous allegations of financial misconduct.

In 2197, whilst serving as the Bearer of Arcaros, Mazdok was seen exiting the Polecth City Bank with seven duffle bags of bank notes. When accosted by security personnel he immediately dropped the bags and proceeded to pontificate extemporaneously for 3 hours, delivering a meandering speech about the necessity for tighter financial security.

In August, 2198, he was accused of embezzling state funds after the Lower Council of Arcaros' Department of External Finances received an invoice for 400,000 from a pastry shop in Polecth, whilst a similar sum of money went unaccounted for during a charity event for which Mazdok was responsible.

In July, 2199, he used his newly acquired legal powers as Apex to investigate these allegations and found himself innocent, acquitting himself of all charges.
