Bravis City
Bravis City (BC), often called simply Bravis, is the most populous city in the nation of South Kafrica, with an estimated population of 3,674,012 Kerbals as of 2065. Located on the island of Bravis straddling the Tau and Southern Sea, the city is the epicenter of the Bravisian Archipelago. With almost 3.7 million people in its metropolitan area, it is one of Kerbin's most populous megacities. It is also one of the world's most densely populated cities, with an average population density of 10,000 kerbals per square kilometer. Bravis City has been described as the cultural melting pot of Kerbin. It has significant influence in commerce, entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, tourism, art, fashion, and sports. Home to the Grand Kerbin Diplomatic Hall, it has been an important center for diplomacy, and several treaties have been signed in the city.
Situated on one of Kerbin's active trade routs, it is a hub for global finance. Bravis City is composed of four districts. The four districts, Fournloke, Comona, Realtan, and Vikus, were consolidated under the guidance of the Bravis City Corporate Council (BCCC) in the year 2055. The megalopolis is extremely culturally diverse. As many as 47 languages are spoken in Bravis City making it one of the most linguistically diverse cities on Kerbin. Bravis City is home to more than 2.3 million residents born off of the island, the largest foreign-born population of any city in South Kafrica. As of 2065, Bravis City is estimated to produce a gross metropolitan product (GMP) of $34 million. Bravis City is home to some of the richest Kerbals on the planet.
Bravis City traces its origins to a Zokesian military outpost founded on the island in the early 21st century. It acted as a staging ground for Zokesian operations in Kafrica, allowing the nation to project its military might significantly further across the planet. The island was a tax haven, and operated with minimal care as to civilian enterprises by the Zokesian administration. As such it was quickly inhabited by Kerbals from all over the world looking for a refugee haven. Eventually, the city was chosen as the headquarters for the international alliance known as NEOCON, one of the most influential organizations in Kerbin's recent history. The Grand Kerbin Diplomatic Hall was initially constructed as one of the most monumental buildings in the world - the NEOCON headquarters building, equipped with high tech defensive systems, and an in facility nuclear fusion reactor. Eventually, following the collapse of NEOCON as an alliance, the Strelkan Naval Junta under the command of Grand Admiral Fournloke took control of the island, turning it into a safe haven for remaining Strelkan military forces, while having little to do with the actual governance of the city. The city saw exponential and radical growth after the disappearance of Fournloke. With his disappearance, Bravis became a lawless city. While crime skyrocketed, so too did immigrants moving to the city in search of a fortune they couldn't even dream of elsewhere on Kerbin. Eventually, the Bravis City Corporate Council was formed by the largest megacorporations of the island, bringing back some form of order to the highly anarchist city.
For a short stint of time, the formation of the Strelkan Empire resulted in a crackdown on the largely anarchist style of living that had taken place within the city. Acting as the capital of the Empire, Bravis was re-organized into the four districts currently active today. Infrastructure was built across the city in order to accommodate the by now massive city population, and the Strelkan Royal Palace was built high above the clouds as the largest skyscraper in the city. While these projects and the influence of the Strelkan empire would change the island forever, the actual Empire did not, collapsing after the breakup of KAFSOC in the late 21st century (KP2). After the collapse, the BCCC retook control of the island, and albeit under the influence of Strelkan South Kafrica, the city and island is largely operated by them to this day.
