The RT-25 (Kerbian: Ručni Top 25, handheld cannon 25 mm) is an anti-material sniper rifle developed by the Teza Military Technology Institute (TVTI). It fires a single 25mm cartridge and is one of the most powerful shoulder-fired weapons in service. An unique trait about it is that the rifle is entirely recoil-less due to its gas venting design.
Specifications
The rifle was developed to engage light and medium APC from short distances, and to achieve enough penetration while keeping the weapon small enough for human use, a back blast upper barrel was installed, similar to the mechanism used in larger recoil-less rifles or shoulder-launched RPG.
A relatively light weight of 16 kg was achieved by using composite materials and light alloys in the bipod, top and bottom barrels. Due to this material choice, the rifle has a relatively high cost and a limited production rate. A variant made with cheaper materials is also produced, although it weighs approximately five kilograms more.
The use of the back-blast system prevents the RT-25 from being used in confined spaces. The back-blast can also create a dust cloud, showing the shooter's position.
