Њ (Nje) was also added to represent /nʲ/. Previously, this was represented by the trigraphs Нје, Нји, Нју, Нјо and Нја, based on what vowel was next. Nje is only used in unassimilated Bastian loanwords. Џ was removed and replaced by the digraph Дж. Said letter was removed to not just simplify the alphabet, but prevent confusion as it could be mistaken for a Ц (Tse), which ''makes'' a different sound.

It was formed in 2169 after the Zimori Autonomous Republic was dissolved, a move that the [tbd] condemned, prompting them to declare independence. Geography

Zimor's terrain is mostly hilly plains. Its capital, Kobyeda, sits on top of a cliff that makes amphibious assaults nearly impossible to conduct.

Politics

Foreign Relations

Relations between Zimor and Dorislav are quite tense. They went to war in 2169, which saw hundreds of thousands dead on both sides, the former's casualties being mostly civilians.

Demographics

Languages and Culture

Disclaimer: Subject to change.

Zimor's population is more than 75% Zimori. A small portion of its population is Dorislavian.

More than 75% of its population speaks Zimori, a dialect of Sovie. The remaining 25% or less speaks Dorislavian. Some consider Zimori to be a separate language because of how far it has diverged from the Valenian dialect spoken in Valenia. Despite being a Sanctome language, it is mistakenly assumed by some to be a Doreno-Veiidi language at first glance, as it uses the same script as Dorislavian.

Cyrillization of Zimori

In the 2110s, an effort to change the script began. However, there were disagreements on what letter or digraph should represent certain sounds. One example was the voiced velar nasal (ŋ): many suggested that this sound be represented by Нг (En followed by Ge), while some suggested that Ң (En with descender) represent this sound. Eventually, they settled on Ң, much to the disappointment of proponents of Нг.

Additional letters which were used to represent sounds that did not exist in Zimori (З, Ж - except for the digraph Дж - Ф, Щ and Ы) were also added for use in unassimilated loanwords and foreign names. The 2113 alphabet was largely based on the Dorislavian alphabet, albeit with the letters Є, І, Ї, Й, Ю, and Я removed. The voiced palatal approximant was instead represented by Ј (Je). In 2127, the alphabet was revised, and Ј was replaced by Й, Ю, and Я. Ґ (Ge with upturn) was replaced by Г for the voiced velar plosive. The latter letter was originally used to represent a voiced glottal fricative, but that was changed to Х (Kha). Said letter also used to represent the voiceless velar fricative, though that was replaced by the digraph Кх. Е was also updated to represent /je/, with Э being added to take its place in representing the /e/ and /ə/ sounds.

Said letter was removed to not just simplify the alphabet, but prevent confusion as it could be mistaken for a Ц (Tse), which makes a different sound.

History

Pre-2070s

Before the 2070s, the lands on which the Zimori settlers landed and established Zimor were ruled by Dorislavian city states since the 1980s after the collapse of an unknown predecessor in 1985 during the Great Decline.

2074: Persecution of Owlians and conflict

In 2074, Owlians were being persecuted in Zimor. They were accused of "contributing to their death spiral". Widely condemned by Elysium, Zimor responded by cutting all ties to Elysium and accusing them of "mocking their religion for far too long and calling them heretics".[1] Later, Grestin launched a series of airstrikes on Zimor. The Zimori Air Force tried to intercept the bombers; however, they dove into the ground and were thought to have crashed.[2] Later, this was revealed to be false: they did not crash during the dive, and instead went full throttle and climbed to high altitude and managed to return to Grestin safely, thanks to their high top speed exceeding Mach 3.[3]

Charlestonia also cut off supplies to Zimori military bases within their country and began an assault on them, the results of which are unknown.[4]
