The Progressive-Conservative, also called the Bull Shark , BS, or P-C Party is a political party in Fortis. It was founded in 2158 by Tedior Roovich in response to the degredation of the Co-Operative Party Of Fortis.

History

Formulative Years

After a bitter defeat in the local politics of the city of Laythi at the hands of internationalist and Co-Operative Party rising star Genos E. Vebb in 2156, Tedior Roovich sought a broader reach.

Roovich, at that point a retired Colonel in the Hook Island "Hook Seariders" Volunteer Cavalry regiment, felt that the Co-Operative Party and its adherents were too focused on international issues, refusing to see issues at home, and were far too interlinked with international business - out of touch with their original voter base.

Gathering like-minded individuals, Roovich organized the 1st Progressive-Conservative Convention at the Reen Convention Center in Bloit in August of 2158. In Solidarity for his cause, and much to his both amusement and perhaps chagrin at the same time, nearly 2,000 politicians from around Fortis registered to show at the convention, nearly all of them having grown copy-cat versions of Roovich's prized mustache.

Most of the delegates at the convention were either outright ostracized, though formerly loyal members of the Co-Operative Party, or politicians from outside of the major parties. Some, though few, were from other major parties, including members of P-Tro and Farmer-Labor.

The Bull Sharks, as the members of the convention came to be known (though the reason is lost to time), organized and pooled resources to register a new watershed political party as Progressive-Conservative.

With Roovich at the top, P-C found incredible success by appealing to the idea that the Co-Operative Party had become corrupt, a shell of what it had once represented. In doing so they found incredible, rapid success outside of Laythi and Fedithe. The fledgling party rapidly closed the gaps in membership and reach by appealing to the masses, masses who at the time saw Co-Operative as representative of a link between corrupt business and corrupt politics.

In only two years from their formation in 2158, P-C grew from a mere 2 national delegates in the legislature to an incredible 30, growing to a major party at an unprecedented pace, dominating local elections during the period.
