Mau'ani Fakara (born 2147) is a Feguan citizen, mayor of the small city of Tei'eaupo'o, Pihiro. He is also the single inhabitant of the city, making it the smallest municipality in Fegeland. The city hall of Tei'eaupo'o resides in a humble shed next to the Fakara family house. Fakara was first elected (by himself) in 2160, at the age of 23, making him the youngest mayor in Fegeland at the time. He has remained in office ever since, winning all municipal elections by a landslide unanimous 100% of valid votes amongst a population of 1 active voters. The small city also has the lowest abstention rate in Fegeland, with a stable 0%. (The second smallest municipality in Fegeland has an abstention rate of 50%, with a population of 2).

Personal life

Mau'ani Fakara married his first and only wife, Maia Tefaru-Tamatoa, at the age of 22, before divorcing on a common accord after his second election in 2165. They had three children, two under their marriage, and one after their separation. Mau'ani appears to have asked for divorce after refusing his wife, Maia, moving in his Tei'eaupo'o house, likely to prevent the city from loosing its distinction of smallest city in Fegeland (and him risking loosing the elections to his wife in 2170). They however maintained their relationship, and Mau'ani funded the construction of a penthouse for his wife and children in the neighboring municipality of Fenua-ite-Upo'o, that he visits daily but refuses to sleep at, except on weekends.

Fakara studied Vastianology at the University of Pihiro[1]. Without a job, he candidated to the 2160 Municipal Election for Tei'eaupo'o, winning with 100% (1 vote). He has since lived off his state allowance as a mayor.

Controversies

  • Fakara is criticized for divorcing his wife in order to stay the only resident of Tei'eaupo'o. He however defends his position arguing that "this very simple trick allows [them] to live a very comfortable life at [their] penthouse in Fenua-ite-Upo'o".
  • He has no political party or affiliations, and is not known for any political ideas whatsoever - his understanding of politics doesn't goes farther than the 3 acres of his municipality and the 20 city hall Municipal Chicken.
  • He has been involved in a money laundering scheme involving illegally perceived campaign funding to renovate the city hall shed.
  • During the 2182 Municipal Elections, he allegedly embezzled 14 millions FF from the Territorial Adminitstration for his own personal benefit.
  • He is rumored of having hosted political dissidents and opponents to the government since the 2170s. This granted him multiple inspection by state agencies and federal agents.
  • He was suspected in the disappearance of a federal agent in 2176, a crime that was never solved. At the same time, the chicken coop behind the Tei'eaupo'o city hall received a new concrete foundation that Fakara promptly declared as "sacred ground" at the Office for Religious Patrimony to avoid investigations.
  • His family penthouse in Fenua-ite-Upo'o was reportedly financed by diverted campaign fundings and state funding for ecological programs, something he always denied, claiming that he "keeps that kind of bucks for beers and chickens".
  • He has been accused of multiple counts of public intoxication, outrage, drunk driving, illegal distillation, tax fraud, corruption of local officials and members of the police, poaching and illegal shrimp fishing.
  • He claims to fish and produce the "best shrimps in the whole fenua" by growing them in old paint buckets with copious amounts of hormones, protein additives and capal fluids. The shrimps are said to "taste unusual but not as bad as raw concrete".
  • He is banned from the Dr. Rainui Medical Office in Fenua-ite-Upo'o for trying to pay for medication in chickens and eggs, thrice.
