The F-1 Tiger is a new advanced fighter built by WaffleTech Corporations Ltd.

Design

Overview

The F-1 Tiger is a Generation 4+ Fighter. It is the first craft built by WaffleTech that uses Diverterless Supersonic Inlets (DSI) rather than the ram air inlets. It is also the first production fighter that is highly maneuverable and with a high thrust-to-weight ratio of 1.32 with afterburners.

The plane uses a canard-delta configuration, enabling high-speed agility and low-speed, low-altitude performance. Coupled with two thrust vectoring J-404 turbofans, the plane can enjoy a tight turn radius, even at Mach speeds.

Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFT) are found on the plane, extending the range at the cost of maximum payload capacity.

Weapons

The F-1 Tiger can be configured for certain missions. The most common is 6 AIM-120C AMRAAM missiles under the fuselage and 2 AIM-9L Sidewinders on the two underwing hardpoints. For interception roles, the Sidewinders can be replaced with 2 150-unit drop tanks, while for patrol, 2 AMRAAM's can be removed to make way for a single 400-unit drop tank for extended loiter time.

Like most other aircraft in current usage, it has a 20mm rotary cannon with 600 rounds per gun for very short range engagements. This also enables it to gain extra kills in the case it runs out of missiles.

Variants

F-1A

This is the core variant. Everything mentioned above describes this.

F-1B

This is the fighter-bomber variant. It can do air interdiction, close-air support, and tactical bombings, whilst still being able to defend itself with 4 AMRAAM missiles. It's air-to-ground payload can be 2 JDAM's (stock) or 4 500 lb bombs.

The fuselage is extended a bit to be able to carry the extra payload. However, it also means that it presents a larger target for ground-based radar to lock on. Then again, if you are going to destroy the radar, what is the point?

F-1C

This is an advanced variant of the F-1, featuring a reduced radar cross-section, higher top speed, better range, and

3 F-1C's in formation flight, ready to intercept enemy forces.

better climb rate. Another change is the location of the 20 mm gun from under to above the nose. All missiles are situated under the fuselage; none are placed under the wings.

It also has a smaller ventral area than the A variant, presenting a smaller target to both aircraft and ground installations. Because of its higher fuel capacity, it can also fly for longer and stay in battle for longer.

Operators

None as of now.
