The Mazdok Class of heavy corvettes is a class of Ikonic warship in service with the Armada Ikonicus. The first ship of the class, IKN Milo Mazdok (ICT-38) is named after Milo Mazdok, the 23rd and currently serving apex of the Ikonic Federation. The class was originally to be named after the previous Apex, Flammion d'Ambray, but Apex Mazdok superseded this and promptly named the class after himself, drawing significant outcry from Valora.
Design
The class features an inverted bow designed to cut through waves and improve hydrodynamic drag, increasing maximum speed. As well as its inverted bow, the type is characterized by a very high freeboard.
Development
boat
Flight I
Flight II
The type recieved a facelift in the form of the flight II design, updating RAM coating and reorganising the superstructure. An additional VLS battery was inserted into the bow and a .50 calibre close-range defense gun was added. These changes reduced the maximum speed from 38 knots to 35 knots, though this was deemed acceptable.
A key element of the flight II design is the usage of azimuth thrusters for propulsion, drastically improving performance.
