Ravos is the star at the centre of the Ravos System, around which the exoplanet Selenya orbits.

Ravos

Type: K-Class Star

Surface Temperature: 4900K

Luminosity: 0.29 Kerbol

Radius: 0.75 Kerbol

Mass: 0.7 Kerbol

Description: Ravos is a main-sequence K2V star located 43 light-years away from Kerbin. Discovered in 1970, the presence of Ravos, besides its above-average metallicity was hardly notable in the historical record until the discovery of a habitable, life-bearing planet discovered a hundred years later. It is a relatively young star, likely about 2 to 2.5 billion years old and only just settling into a stable orbital configuration and, with a projected lifespan of 70 billion years, Ravos will most likely sustain life many magnitudes longer than Kerbol will.

-Rakon

Planet Type: Terrestrial Super-Kerbin world

Semimajor axis: 0.1 AU

Surface Temperature: 310°C

Mass: 2.01 Kerbin

Description: Only discovered during the second round of probe launches due to its proximity to Ravos, Rakon is a highly metallic world that is subject to heavy flares and solar storms that blast its surface. While settlement may be possible on the poles, where temperatures may be more stable and its mineral wealth may indeed prove enticing to new and existing states in the Union, its delta-V demands, heavy radiation bombardment and physical demands make this prospect difficult to consider in the near future.

Moons: 1 minor (Orzhon)

- Selenya

Planet Type: Terrestrial World

Semimajor Axis: 0.4 AU

Surface Temperature: 18°C

Mass: 1.1 Kerbin

Description: The new home for the Spearkan people and the hope for a new future away from Kerbin, Selenya is nonetheless a world that remains less than ideal for Kerbal life. Its atmospheric oxygen content is too low to survive for longer than a few hours and the surface, barren of flora or fauna, is wracked by extreme weather from superstorms to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Life in Selenya consists entirely of single-celled organisms adapted to feed on Ravos’ orange light; in its littoral zones and shallow seas, yellow-orange matts and wisps can be seen as pelagic archaea feed on the infrared and what little blue light the star emits while in its dark, inky blue oceans, archaea in the oceans twilight zone use entirely distinct blue-black photosynthesisers to take in any remaining light that may penetrate the surface layers.

Moons: 1 major (Endymion), 1 minor (Paeon)

- Azron

Planet Type: Terrestrial World

Semimajor axis: 0.7 AU

Surface Temperature: -25°C

Mass: 0.6 Kerbin

Description: The major partner in the Azron//Grun double system, Azrons thick nitrogen atmosphere is barely just habitable though any chance of life-seeding or terraforming is simply impossible with current technology. Azrons rusted, snowy surface is constantly met with blizzards and earthquakes as the planets young age and tidal effects from Grun churn its crust. Perhaps, were it a little closer, it may have been Selenya’s twin with its own life.

Moons: 1 major (Grun), 2 minor (Tannok, Instor)

- Izzan

Planet type: Gas Giant

Semimajor axis: 4 AU

Temperature: -110 °C

Mass: 0.8 Jool

Description: Izzan is the largest planet in the Ravos system, with its gas clouds shown to be churning with superstorms unlike anything seen either in the Ravos or Kerbin system. It is also home to two significant moons, Samoc and Golgus, with masses of 0.3 and 0.2 Kerbin respectively. Golgus is the innermost moon that is wracked with sulphurous volcanoes and lava flows while Samoc is an ocean world with a thin layer of ice, of which its suspected the thinnest is as little as 1km deep, resides.

Moons: 2 major (Golgus and Samoc), at least 28 minor moons.

- Baras

Planet type: Ice Giant

Semimajor axis: 10 AU

Temperature: -170°C

Mass: 0.1 Jool

Description: The lesser of the two giants in the Ravos system, Baras is unusual among outer planets as it has an unusually large number of rocky moons that should be present closer to the star. Additionally, the atmosphere is calm and devoid of most weather features, making the planet system a curious candidate for habitat settlement, though initial pressures make it a more distant possibility.

Moons: At least 34 minor moons, more than half of which are metallic/rocky.

- Dimar

Planet type: Terrestrial Ice Planet

Semimajor axis: 17 AU

Temperature: -200°C

Mass: 0.2 Kerbin

Description: Small, distant and eccentrically orbiting Ravos with barely a lick of light reaching its cold, icy surface, it is believed that Dimar intially was an moon of Izzan before being ejected during the churn of the star systems formation. Dimar was the last world of the Ravos system to be discovered, being only observed after the Odyssey fleet finally set themselves in place. While some speak of putting a forward post there some day, the pressure to survive as is does not put much pressure to settle the planet any time soon.
