The BTR-47 (full name Personnel Carrier, Wheeled, BTR-47) is a Dorislavian open-top wheeled armored personnel carrier. Originally an airborne APC of Belanirislavian origin whose development was halted due to its schematics falling into Dorislavian hands when they seized Astif, development resumed after the war to arm the newly-reestablished Dorislavian Ground Forces with a basic troop transport vehicle.
It entered service in 2154, and remains in service with the Dorislavian Ground Forces as of 2200. However, due to its age and vulnerability to incendiary and explosive weapon attacks from above, it is scheduled to be retired by 2215.
Development
AAZ began developing the BTR-47 (internal name AAZ-E47 Open-top Compact Armored Personnel Carrier) in 2147. The concept was designed to be compact and suitable for use in tight spaces, while also being able to be loaded into strategic airlifters. It would also lack weapons by default, though it could be optionally fitted with a 12.7 mm remotely-operated machine gun. AAZ submitted a proposal for a compact, airborne open-top armored personnel carrier to the Ministry of Defense in 2149. While criticized for the obvious vulnerability of lacking a roof, their proposal was accepted and greenlit for further development.
In 2150, a war broke out in Dorislav, then a part of Belanirislav. The conflict severely hampered development and halted all work on the prototype, which ground to a halt when Astif was seized by the Dorislavians. Development only resumed after the end of the conflict, with the prototype being completed by late 2152. Following months of testing, it was accepted into service as the Personnel Carrier, Wheeled, BTR-47 in mid-2153.

Protection
The BTR-47's armor is 8 mm all around which is enough to stop small arms fire and shell fragments, but not 12.7 mm rounds or larger. The engine compartment is made of aluminum, while the crew compartment is made of steel; this was done largely due to the engine and fuel tanks in the front causing its center of mass to shift closer to the front.
