The ZM2 Shelby CFV is very similar to the [[Rhodie Infantry Fighting Vehicle|Rhodie]] IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) and was initially fielded with the same two-man 90mm Infantry Support Cannon turret with a coaxial M230C 30-mm machine gun and twin .50 caliber crew-chief operated defense weapons. Its design came as a result of the increasing weight of main battle tanks and the need for a flexible scout force in the Zokeisan Light Infantry. The ZM2 is classified as an armored reconnaissance and scout vehicle. The ZM2 also carries more TOW missiles as well as more ammunition for its 30-mm and .50-cal guns.
