KITE '59 was to be the second running of KITE, but was cancelled at short notice due to rising political tensions within the [[KSKM]]. In response, [[Fegeland]] quickly organised and hosted SURF '59. The change in title and venue arrived so late that some corporations arrived at SURF with KITE branded promotional material.
