The B-52 was designed and built by Ward Industries, which has continued to provide support and upgrades. It has been operated by the [[Zokesian Royal Air Force]] since the 2150s. The bomber can carry up to 300,000 pounds (136,000 kg) of weapons and has a typical combat range of around 800 miles (1,200 km) without aerial refueling.

Beginning with the successful contract bid in June 2150, the B-52 design evolved from a straight wing aircraft powered by six turboprop engines to the final prototype YB-52 with eight turbojet engines and swept wings. The B-52 took its maiden flight in April 2154. The B-52 has been in service with the ZRAF since 2155, replacing the [[ZB-63 Warmonger]].

Superior performance at high subsonic speeds and relatively low operating costs have kept them in service despite the development of more advanced strategic bombers, such as the Mach 2+ [[ZB-70 Walküre]], the V-4 Valkyrie, the variable-geometry Lockheed Grillin B-1 Lancer, and the stealth IU B-21. A veteran of several wars, the B-52 has dropped only conventional munitions in combat.
==Development==
The B-52 was the result of a long and arduous development process which saw the configuration change from multiple turboprop engines, to a fully turbojet design. Initially powered by eight CF-120 turbojets, the bomber was equipped to carry 90,000 pounds of ordinance and had over 1200km of range, enough to get to Kafrica and back unrefueled. It was also the most expensive bomber ever built in Zokesia at $145,000, and production was initially limited to 10 units. It was pressed into service as B-52A and served in limited capacity.

==Design==
Structured around a core requirement of 45 2000lb bombs and long range, the B-52 featured a long cavernous fuselage full of fuel and payload. A large swept wing provided stability and eight low-bypass ratio engines let the B-52 cruise near mach 0.8 for over a thousand kilometers unrefueled.

C-model upgrades came in the form of more advanced bombsight and bombardier position, external racks, and a defensive 20mm vulcan in the tail. A total of 50 B-52Cs were built.

In the late 2170s, the B-52 was upgraded to extend its service life into the 2190s. The tail gun was replaced with an electronics suite and the fuselage was retrofitted with a bomb bay twice as large as C models, to carry the new kalibr antiship missile. Lower fuel capacity meant to reach the required range, inflight refueling was required and added to the new H model. 25 B-52Cs were upgraded to H model with another 20 being built brand new. The upgraded bomb bay now allowed for one hundred Mk84 bombs or 200,000lb of ordinance.

The newest version of the B-52, the J-model, was introduced in 2200. Featuring more advanced radar suites and with upgraded C-400 High Bypass Turbofan engines, the B-52J was better suited and more efficient at operating at high altitude and at extreme ranges. Bomb bay capacity was increased to 300,000lb of ordinance, with additional space on wing mounted pylons. To date 10 B-52Hs have been converted to J-models, with an additional 40 planned to be built in [[Cyten-Ward Industries]] factory in Ezekialgrad.

A merging of the two schools of thought led to multiple revisions of the final design, and on 1 August 2158 the Z-41 prototype took to the air for the first time. The '''ZHLA-75-3 Immanemque''' is a strategic airlift cargo aircraft designed and produced by [[Cyten-Ward Industries]] in [[Zokesia]].

It was originally developed during the 2150s as an enlarged derivative of the ZHLA-17 airlifter for the express purpose of transporting oversize cargo, specifically multiple [[Rhodie Infantry Fighting Vehicle|Rhodie Infantry Fighting Vehicles]] side by side. On 21 December 2158, the ZHLA-75-3 performed its maiden flight; only three aircraft were ever completed. While the second airframe is still in active service, the first has had a more diverse life. After a brief period of use in the [[Confederate Strategic Airlift Command]], the aircraft was mothballed during the early 2190s. Towards the turn of the century, it was decided to refurbish the ZHLA-75-3 and reintroduce it for commercial operations, carrying oversized payloads for the operator [[Confederate Air]], with a clause in the contract to be re-purchased by the [[Arcovii-Zokesia|Confederacy]] in times of need.

== Design ==
The ZHLA-75-3 was designed around a central tennant to carry 250 tons of cargo, while simultaneously able to handle large, bulky loads that most airlifters are unable to carry. Its 10m x 10m x 50m cargo hold has a floor-to-ceiling capacity of 3,700 cubic meters of cargo, enabling it to carry large helicopters, heavy machinery, or bulk fuel shipments. With a range of 700km, the Immanemque is able to also operate at rough and unprepared fields thanks to its robust landing gear array and large wing area. The maximum takeoff weight is 1,600,000 kg, or nearly two and a half times its unladen weight.

The second airframe, ZHLA-75-4, was built on improvements to the first that resulted in additional engines for short takeoff and landing and reduction in drag along the leading edge.

=== New Engine Option ===
In 2202, the New Engine Option upgrade for the Immanemque saw the mounting of four CWI HB-03 Turbofan engines. Built specifically for the ZHLA-75, the HB-03 is the largest turbofan engine in existence, which increased Immanemque’s total thrust output to 10,304 kN of thrust. Maximum takeoff capacity increased to 1,000,000kg of cargo. Both ZHLA-75-3 and ZHLA-75-4 were upgraded to the New Engine Option standard by 2203.

ZHLA-75-5 was never completed during initial production. Designed to carry more heavy tonnage loads, the ZHLA-75-5 was going to include on-board cranes for moving cargo and bulkheads to separate cargo. Multiple announcements were made regarding the potential completion of the third airframe, though its construction largely remained on hold due to a lack of funding. By 2200, it had reportedly been brought up to 60–70% completion.

== Development ==
The aircraft was built on data retrieved from the remains of SL-18 "Novi Avion" Fighters recovered from the Delras Conflict. The design called for a single engine with delta wings and small control surfaces aft of the CoL. The battery equipment for ECM pod and cockpit functions was placed under the belly of the plane in a streamlined pod, creating a very low drag airframe.

=== Production Model Z-80A ===
The first variant of the aircraft featured two Aim-9 Sidewinders, two Aim-120 AMRAAMs, and a 20mm cannon.

=== Horde Wars ===
Upgraded in 2068, the Z-80B featured increased range, redesigned tail surfaces, better cannon (30mm) and more advanced pilot assist computer. By far the most produced variant of the decade, the Z-80B saw combat use in the Horde Wars where combat records proved much more favorable to the old Fury 1F mutli-role fighter of the early 2060s.

Following the first Horde Wars, the newest model was rolled out increased the armament, bringing the missile armament to four. Additional control changes were made to reduce flight sensitivity and improve control in combat.

=== Arkadii-Zokesian War ===
Many Z-80Cs were the "B" model with modifications made in the field. It was this model that saw extensive use in both the Arcadii-Zokesian war and the First and Second Spice Conflicts

During the Arcadii-Zokesian War, Z-80s fought long odds against superior fighters, often returning to Aeserian airspace on fumes. The first days of the conflict led to the recognition that a serious problem was occurring with the flight controls of the Z-80, causing it to fly sluggishly at low speeds. Pilots found it inferior to the YaV "Spooky" it was up against, but despite this Zokesian pilots were able to take back parity of the air and eventually win the war.

The Spice Reciprocity conflicts were a great civil struggle that Zokesia sought to end quickly by defeating the forces of the illegitimate "Reciprocity of Rostrum." The MCS defended Rostrum until the Zokesian Air Force and ReClaimation Legion took back control over the skies. Fighting inferior aircraft the Z-80 achieved a handsome victory record and the reputation of the aircraft was restored.
=== 2080s Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) ===
After quantum leaps in fighter performance in the early 2080s, the aging Z-80 got new life breathed into her in the form of the 'H' Model service upgrade. This featured the addition of jetlets under-wing, a gutting of the ancient ECM system and a rebuild of the gun system after the lessons of the Z-90. The Z-80H was a sort of stepping stone from old to new, and while it was superior to Z-90s and other air-to-air planes of Zokesia in 2081, by the time it reached front line service its fate was that of the Z-90 before it - it was replaced with a newer model, the Z-80L. The remaining Z-80Hs were updated to the "L" Model in 2084 and 2085, following the Unification of New Arkovy and Zokesia.

Further developments in the aerospace world in aerial refueling and air-to-air capability led to a modernization of flight computers, air-to-air radar and hard-points. The improved "L" model, now capable of 12 missiles and featuring a new single 20mm cannon, the Z-80L advanced the fighter envelope and extended the combat range three times its original distance via in-air refueling off of KZ-10A tankers. The Z-80L also features a single under-fuselage drop tank for extending range. The new Z-80L also removed the twin booster engines of the Z-80H, making the plane lighter and cheaper.

150 of the Z-80L Mk I were ordered in early 2085, but production has been slow following the new modernization request of the Z-80L Mk IV, which is being retrofitted on production airplanes as well as older Z-80Hs.

=== Z-80I ===
The Z-80I is an exofighter variant of the Z-80 which can operate in the vacuum of space and low atmosphere. The craft was designed for Duna use, and one is currently stationed at the Federation of Duna's capitol. The craft is capable of bombing and air-to-air duties to protect the colony from harm.
=== Z-80Q (SLEP II) ===
An Arkadii-Zokesian development, the Q model was a radical departure from the standard airframe and required a 100% new construction and tooling. All Z-80Qs are new airframes, built with twin Panther afterburning turbojets and a sleek delta wing. The model saw limited service before being phased out by Francisco Grail following the appearence of the K3X, which made the Z-80Q obsolete.

The Z-80R was a further programme to update aging Z-80 A through L models to modern standards. Using state of the art computer-assisted flight models and an additional afterburning Tiger engine, the Z-80R promises to further increase the capability of Zokesian allies by bringing older airframes up to modern standards. The Zokesian navy put in an order for 40 for island and coastal defense in 2110.

=== Z-80E (SLEP III) ===
In the mid 2100s the aging Z-80 fleet was nearing retirement, and modern designs were being brought into production, and the Z-80s days looked numbered. However, in a joint project between Zokesia and Crytil in 2140, a new model Z-80 (designated Z-80E or Z-80E Bis) was built from the ground up and new factories were built using knowledge gained from the Kaminari programme. The new fighter brought the aging craft into the 22nd century, and soon thousands of newly built Z-80s were replacing their 21st century counterparts in the global arms industry. To date, 1196 Z-80Es have been built for various nations, in Kolus and abroad.

Halco built 100 Z-80C on licence during the 2072 [https://kerbal-powers.wikia.com/wiki/Arkadii-Zokesian_War Arcadii-Zokesian War], with an additional 150 being built and converted to Z-80G specification in 2076-77, which in turn were updated to the Z-80L in 2085.

Blythia fielded a force of 25 Z-80Bs in 2070, their fate unknown after the fall of the state.

Delras fields a force of 40 Z-80Bs, and may be purchasing additional G models in the near future.

Medwedia purchased 50 Z-80Cs in 2080, along with 50 Z-80Cs that were built in Siberige in 2080, and Ileslands built 120 during the same year.

Belasriov and Dorislav purchased 20 Z-80Ls in 2085 and 2087 respectively, which were combined into the Belanirislav Air Force in 2088. Later that year, the Belasirov and Dorislav Civil Wars erupted. Dorislav used them to conduct airstrikes on suspected Fasco-Dorislav Rebellion camps.

In 2165, Dorislav, seeking to replace its Z-80Ls, bought seven Z-80Es. These aircraft were later used in the [[Zimori War of Independence]] to bomb Zimori positions. One Z-80E was lost during the war, though this loss was labeled an accident.

Sahrland implemented a variety of changes to their liscence produced Z-80s beginning after the Great Bastian turkeyshoot of 2148. The changes include a hull reinforced against sea corrosion, folding wings and rudder, flaps, and swapping landing gear for pontoons. The modifications slightly increased weight and significantly increased drag but left subsonic performance mostly unnaffected. These were widely deployed as naval aircraft and several ships were refitted specifically to hold a Z-80.

==Development==
The Z-40 Mantis was designed in the 2130s, when Zokesia was embroiled in the Nautilane-Gallante war and was still struggling to fill the gaps left by the prewar navy. The fleet carriers of [[ZNS Emperor Zeroth (CVN-21)|''Emperor Zeroth'']] and [[ZNS Imperator Drekevak (CVN-22)|''Imperator Drekevak'']] were not even on the drawing board, and other than the aging carrier ''Fort Grace'' and smaller auxiliary carriers, the Zokesian fleet was unable to provide sufficient deck space for larger strike fighters, and was forced to use Naval versions of Z-80s and K-40 fighters imported from Orion.The Z-40's first prototypes were slow in development, and by 2135 only a single prototype was flying. The process of designing the variable-incidence engine nozzles was complex, requiring four smaller engines to operate, as well as a cutoff for the front pair, increasing weight and complexity. The first prototypes, codenamed "Mantis" by Ward Industries, were delivered to the Zokesian Navy in 2139. By now, the fleet carriers were under construction and the immediate need for a VTOL fighter was no longer as urgent and the Kolusian Dust Bowl had ravaged the economy of Zokesia and its allies, and the contract was cancelled. A total of 12 Mantis prototypes were built and used for VTOL test research on the escort carrier ''ZNS Bayken'', from 2139 to 2145. The [[F-52 Kargadan|F-52J Kargadan]] was selected instead to form the backbone of Zokesian naval air power, successfully performing flight operations off the small carriers previously only able to tender single-engine fighters.

In 2148, the Reclamation War between the UIF Coalition and Arcadia was in full swing, and the need for naval air power once again became apparent. The fleet carriers operating hundreds of miles from friendly bases staged a dramatic air war, and the Battle of North Point rewrote the books on the possibility of invading a foreign power far from home, using naval assets alone. The engagement was primarily between fleet carriers and surface warships, but many in the Zokesian High Command believed the battle was closer than it needed to be, with Coalition air assets stretched thin protecting the invasion fleet. A handful of escort carriers with effective ground-attack capable fighters would have no doubt been able to reinforce the invasion fleet and reduce the workload of the fleet carrier present, and the development for the Z-40 was restarted.

Orion engineers were brought on as consultants to the project, to refine the design and bring the Mantis up to modern fighter jet standards. Among the changes was the redesign of the lift jets, which allowed the forward pair of engines to be removed entirely, simplifying the jet and reducing both cost and weight significantly. Within five years, the Z-40 Mantis was awarded a contract by the Zokesian Marine Corps, and orders began flooding in.

==Operational History==
During [[Operation Red Rocket]], Marine Z-40s struck Kafrican tanks, performing low altitude precision bombing runs on heavily defended targets, taking stiff losses. The Zokesian Marine Corps lost 10 Harriers and 20 ZAH-1s at the cost of 50-60 enemy tanks. One Z-40 pilot, 1st LT Carmen Nadon, took heavy fire and resulted in the loss of the engine of his Mantis. Instead of ditching, 1st LT Nadon flew her crippled Z-40 into the flak again, dropping the rest of her ordinance and destroying two enemy tanks before bailing out. Recovered by friendly forces but badly burned, 1st LT Carmen Nadon was awarded the Ellanic Cross, the nation's highest award for Valor in combat.

==Exports==
The [[Imperial Union]], [[Atreus]], and [[Zalkent]] all placed orders for the jet, which became well liked by its pilots for its sturdy design, easy operation and ability to forward deploy almost anywhere on Kerbin.

The Imperial Union fielded 40 Z-40s from 2155 to 2187 aboard their Helicopter carriers.

[[Sahr]] purchased 40 of the Z-40-25 variant in 2205 for use on their aircraft carriers.

The '''Cyten-Ward Z-41 Bearcat''' is a [[Zokesia|Zokesian]] carrier-capable supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, twin-tail, all-weather-capable variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft. The Bearcat was developed for the [[Zokesian Royal Navy|Zokesian Royal Navy's]] Naval Fighter Experimental (VFX) program after the collapse of the [[F-52 Kargadan|F-52X Stealth Kargadan]] project. A large and well-equipped fighter, the Z-41 was the first of the Cyten-Ward All Mission Series fighters, which were designed incorporating air combat experience against stealth fighters during the Belkan War.

==Development==
The Z-41 was being drawn up as its creator, Ward Industries, was in the midst of talks with merging with [[Cythen Aerospace Industries|Cyten Aerospace]]. As a result, the Z-41 would be the last aircraft designed under the Ward Industries name. The project was 60% completed when Cyten-Ward merged and the aerospace geniuses of the UIF were brought onboard to refine the project. A merging of the two schools of thought led to multiple revisions of the final design, and on 1 August 2158 the Z-41 prototype took to the air for the first time. The Z-41 was instantly well liked by the Zokesian navy and made its first deployment in 2159 aboard [[ZNS Imperator Drekevak (CVN-22)|ZNS ''Imperator Drekevak'']] (CVN-22), replacing the [[F-52 Kargadan]]. The Z-41 serves as the Zokesian Navy's primary maritime air superiority fighter, fleet defense interceptor, and tactical aerial reconnaissance platform into the 2200s. The Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night (LANTIRN) pod system was added as an optional extra in the 2190s and integrated into the Bearcat "B", and the type soon began performing precision ground-attack missions.

In 2180, a service upgrade program was created to re-engine the Bearcat with more powerful CW-100 Turbofans and integrate new electronics equipment. A total of 120 Z-41Cs have been built, with the remainder receiving upgrade in the years following.
==Operational History==
The Z-41 began operational service in 2159 and soon became the dominant Navy fighter of the Zokesian Royal Navy. It has deployed as the Carrier Air Wing's primary fighter since then, with a total of 27 successful cruises and 250,000 flight hours.

==Development==
In December 2158, [[Arcovii-Zokesia|The Confederacy]] issued Requesition Order Number One, calling for a lightweight tactical fighter capable of carrying conventional and nuclear weapons and operating from rough airfields. In late 2159, a team from the newly formed Cyten-Ward toured Kafrica and Old Kolus to examine both the RONO and the needs of Tau Coalition members. From this tour, Cyten-Ward's chief engineer Jelly Khonston gave his team the goal of reversing the trend in fighter development towards greater size and weight in order to deliver an aircraft with high performance, enhanced maneuverability, and high reliability, while still delivering a cost advantage over contemporary fighters. Recognizing that expensive jet aircraft could not viably be replaced every few years, he also demanded "engineered growth potential" allowing service longevity in excess of 10 years. Using a pair of L85s as the baseline, the engine used in the [[Z-40 Mantis]], the team began considering a series of prospective designs. Among the earliest concepts was the Z-156TX of March 2161. This mounted the engines in pods, one under each wing about mid-span. The fuselage was quite slim compared to the final design, with a crew of two under a narrow cockpit canopy. The finalized design first flew May 21, 2161, just two months after the first prototype design was drawn up. Remarkably rugged, fast, and agile, the design was immediately selected for limited-run production for the [[Zokesian Royal Air Force]] and export, to be codified as the Z-55A and Z-55B, respectively.

In 2170, Cyten-Ward won the Confederate Fighter Aircraft (CFA) competition to replace the Z-55A, with better air-to-air performance against aircraft like the Orion K-60. The resultant aircraft, initially known as Z-55A-21, subsequently became the Z-55E. It had more powerful (5,000 lbf) Logi J85-21 engines, and had a lengthened and enlarged fuselage, accommodating more fuel. Its wings were fitted with enlarged leading edge extensions, giving an increased wing area and improved maneuverability. The aircraft's avionics were more sophisticated, crucially including a radar (initially the Cyten-Ward Electric AN/APQ-153) (the Z-55A and B had no radar). It retained the gun armament of two M39 cannons, one on either side of the nose of the Z-55A. Various specific avionics fits could be accommodated at a customer's request, including an inertial navigation system, TACAN and ECM equipment. Additionally the two position nose landing gear from the Taiala TZ-55 was incorporated to reduce takeoff distance.

In the early 2200s, the Z-55 received upgrade packages to its avionics and fly-by-wire systems, under the new designation Z-55G.

== Trainer Variant ==
The ZT-38 Klaw was developed in 2183, following the need for an advanced fighter trainer to replace the aging GT-1 Two-Seat trainer currently in service. A total of 65 ZT-38s were built for Air Force Fighter Weapons School training, and feature a stripped fuselage without armament and a two-man cockpit with dual instructor controls.

== Z-20 Squalotigre ==
The Z-20 development began in 2195 as a further evolution of The Z-55F Carabinieri II, featuring a new engine that greatly improved overall performance, and a modern avionics suite including a powerful and flexible radar. Compared with the Z-55E, the Z-20 was much faster, gained beyond-visual-range air-to-air capability, and had a full suite of air-to-ground modes capable of utilizing most Zokesian weapons. With these improved capabilities, the Z-20 became competitive with contemporary fighter designs such as the Cyten-Ward Z-41 Bearcat, but was much less expensive to purchase and operate. 200 Z-20s were built for the Zokesian Air Force.

==Operational History==
Currently, both the UIF and Zokesia use the Z-55 in aggressor training squadrons to perform similar roles as near-peer aircraft in the modern threat environment. Zokesia and Arcovdonia operate the Z-55F in large numbers in the traditional air force role of fighter/interceptor, with some air-to-ground capability.

As of this date, 10 Z-55Fs have been exported yearly to the UIF in a deal initiated in 2194, with an estimated 60 in service.
